Anna Black is a student in violin performance at the McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University studying with Amy Moretti, David Kim, and Robert McDuffie. Born and raised in Eagle, Idaho, Ms. Black started studying piano at age four and violin at age seven. She has sung in choirs for many years, took private voice lessons throughout high school, and is currently in the Mercer Singers ensemble. She started teaching violin at age fifteen, and her many students have ranged in age from six to sixty-five.
Ms. Black has served as concertmaster of the Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, the Sun Valley Summer Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Idaho All-State Orchestra. She was a violin section member in the Summer Music Institute Orchestra at the Kennedy Center and in the National Youth Orchestra of the USA when it toured Europe and South America. After college, she hopes to continue her violin studies in a graduate program and to keep teaching and playing beautiful music for as long as she possibly can.
